As a result of high insecurity in the country, the Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has tasked Deltans to be vigilant, saying that these were trying times for the country and the state.
Governor Uduaghan said this in Warri, today, at First Baptist Church Warri during his Easter message to Deltans.
The governor noted that a lot of things were happening in the world, stressing that people should watch the kind of people they interact with.
He also revealed that the government had discovered a group of young boys who are involved in homosexuality in Warri.
He said this was made possible by the Education Marshalls put in place by the state government.
“Right now we have discovered young boys of 15 to 17 years who go to Enerhen Junction and rent houses where men will be coming to sleep with them. These boys belong to a cult called yansh.
To this end Governor Uduaghan called on parents to play their roles as parents and monitor what their children were doing.
He ascribed the high level of criminality in our society to the inability of parents to play their roles in the lives of their children.
On the issue of cattle herdsmen harassing farmers in the state, the governor said the state government was handling the situation and will soon bring it to an end.
He vowed that the state government would make the state uncomfortable for trouble makers who come into the state to make trouble.
He lamented the situation whereby people destroy what government has put in place for the benefit of all, urgig the people to be responsible citizens.
He said government was poised to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people but that it was the responsibility of the citizens to maintain government infrastructures.
Speaking on the operation clean Warri and its environs, governor Uduaghan said government had to embark on the clean up because of the dirty nature of the three council areas.
He said he was not happy with the attitude of people towards their environment, calling on all to keep their environment clean at all times.
