Tompolo Mourns Former President Muhammadu Buhari, Hails His Legacy

By Ogheneyenrowo Tejiri
The Chairman of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) and prominent Niger Delta leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing him as a principled patriot who served Nigeria with integrity.
In a condolence message made available to the press, Tompolo hailed the late president for his dedication to national development, particularly noting his administration’s bold move to partner with local stakeholders in securing Nigeria’s oil and gas infrastructure.
“Buhari was a principled and patriotic Nigerian who contributed his quota to the development of Nigeria during his tenure as President from 2015 to 2023.
“He was not a materialistic person and was content with what God blessed him with,” Tompolo said.
According to the ex-militant leader turned security consultant, Buhari’s commitment to integrity and national service was evident in his choice of individuals and organizations he entrusted with critical national assignments.
One such decision, he noted, was the hiring of Tantita Security Services in 2022 to tackle rampant oil theft and sabotage of vital oil installations.
“At a time when the nation’s oil and gas infrastructures were bleeding, Buhari took a bold step by engaging Tantita. Today, the story is different—Nigeria is steadily progressing towards attaining a peak in oil production,” Tompolo stated.
He added that Buhari’s legacy will live on through his contributions to the unity, peace, and economic stability of the country.
“Nigerians will miss his contributions to the unity and peace of their country. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the nation, his family, and close associates. May his soul rest in peace,” he said.
High Chief Ekpemupolo signed off the tribute with his traditional title, “Ibe-Ebidouwei of Ijaw Nation,” reflecting his continued influence in the region and his evolving role as a partner in Nigeria’s security and development architecture.
The ex-president died in London at about 4.30 pm, on Sunday, July 13, following a prolonged illness. He served as Nigeria’s President from 2015 to 2023.
