Tension As Naval Personnel Invades Police Station, Beats Up Police Man in Warri

There was tension in the twin cities of Effurun and Warri yesterday as naval operatives invaded Enerhen Police Station in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State and beat up a policeman on duty.
The policeman, a Sergeant simply identified as Kingsley, was mercilessly beaten with blood gushing our of his face by the navy personnel allegedly led by a newly commissioned officer attached to Nigeria Navy Ship (NNS Delta) Warri.
Gunshots rented the air in and around the premises of the station as early as 7.30 am forcing nearby shop owners to hurriedly locked up their shops.
Residents of the area, who were either taking their children to schools or going to work, returned home until the shootings subsided.
Though the cause of the invasion could not be immediately ascertained, it was however unofficially gathered that the Navy personnel were either probably at the Police Station to seek release of a colleague or relation arrested earlier by policemen or molested.
None of the policemen was ready to speak to confirm the incident as atthe time our reporter visited the station but normalcy has returned to the area.
Contacted via WhatsApp, SMS and voice call, Navy Commander Samuel Musa, Base Operations Officer, NNS Delta, Warri refused to pick his calls or respond to text message.
It was however gathered that the naval personnel involved in the incident had been detained while investigation into the cause of the infraction has commenced.
