There Is No Zoning Arrangement In Delta PDP – Burutu PDP Chairman
Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Burutu Local Government Area, Delta State, Hon. Sagbegha Korokorosei, today, said there had never been any zoning arrangement in the Delta State PDP declaring that Elder Godsdey Orobebe had the right to contest for any elective position.
In an exclusive interview with the Reformer crew of Tejiri Ebikeme and Frank Efe in Warri, Hon. Korokorosei, held that zoning in the state had never been operational as candidates from all the senatorial districts had contested in past primaries.
In his words; “There has never been any zoning arrangement in the state since the inception of the party in 1999. In 1999 the primaries featured candidates from the three senatorial districts. And in 2003 the same thing happened. The same thing also repeated itself in 2007 in the election that brought in Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan. So you can see that there had been no zoning since the inception of the party. So everybody is qualified to contest in the PDP primaries.”
On the rumoured gubernatorial aspiration of the Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Elder Godsdey Orubebe, the Burutu PDP Chairman said thus: “In the first place everybody is qualified to contest for any elective position. Elder Godsdey Orubebe, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, has the right to contest for any position he wants. Whether he has the governorship ambition or not, I do not know, but all I know is that he has the right to contest for whichever office he want to contest for. So on that instance, I cannot actually speak on where he is going now because he has not told me. When I have a clearer picture of the situation, I will come back and tell you that he is going for so and so position and Deltans will smile. According to the Bible when the righteous rule the people rejoice. He is a man of God.”
He added;” Since he is a man of God, this is the kind of person we want to work with and the kind of person that should rule us, because he is peace loving and he is a lover of everybody. So if by tomorrow he is contesting for the governorship position, I will not be surprised and I will vote for him; not only me but the whole of Delta State will vote for him.”
On the crisis rocking Burutu PDP, Hon. Korokorosei blamed it on some disgruntled politicians, but said all was being done to bring the desired unity to the party in the area.
According to him, “The State PDP Chairman, Hon. Peter Nwanbuchi is an intelligent person, very hard working; he is working for the unity of the state PDP, and also working hard to unite the Burutu PDP for us.”
He commended the developmental strides of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, urging Deltans to continue to support his administration.
Also speaking, PDP party leader in Burutu,Hon. Fungeowei Azami, said that the crisis rocking the Burutu PDP was unfortunate, and praised the effort of the State’s PDP Chairman to resolve the crisis for the good of all.
