EFFURUN ROTARY ASSURES OF MORE HUMANITARIAN PROJECTS

Rotarian Clement Olufemi Aboderin, newly installed President, Rotary Club of Effurun District 9140 has promised to execute more humanitarian projects in this Rotary year for her host communities.
Rtn. Aboderin gave this assurance during his investiture as the President of Rotary Club of Effurun GRA for 2014/2015 Rotary year, he said that the core of Rotary activities was designed to package projects that would touch lives of members of the communities where they serve adding that the Club took that as priority.
He noted that the Club will key into the range of service projects of Rotary world-wide in the areas such as Disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, peace and conflict prevention/resolution, basic education and literacy as well as economic and community development.
Rotarian Aboderin disclosed that in this Rotary year, the club shall embark on the provision of potable water through a borehole project, provision of white marker boards for schools in the community, regular visits to and provision of basic necessities and medical needs for the orphanage and the old peoples’ homes, expansion of the micro credit scheme to accommodate more traders in the community, provision of bursary awards to more indigent students in tertiary institutions, eradication of polio and regular visits to government hospitals and health centres to give assistance.
According to Rtn. Aboderin, “We have a chance to improve the lots of the less privileged in the society. We can light up the world and create a desired transformed community though we know that the needs of our communities are endless. Our obligations as Rotarians is to create smiles on the faces of the needy, because happy are the people who give happiness to others”.
In his valedictory speech, the outgone president, Rotarian Kingsley Gborhohwo said that the Club embarked and completed some projects in the 2013/2014 Rotary year and also awarded scholarships, adding, “We have provided quality note books to more than 9 schools in Effurun and environs. We have provided standard teachers’ tables and chairs to 4 primary schools in the Effurun Army Barracks. We have also donated hospital equipment to Ekpan General Hospital and empowered small scale business people with interest free loans.”
He commended all the committed members of the club for hard work and total support during his tenure and their commitment towards the worthy cause of Rotary slogan of Service Above Self.
