OKOWA PLEDGES MORE PEOPLE ORIENTED PROJECTS AT RESUMED TOWN HALL MEETINGS

Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has pledged that his administration would provide more people oriented projects for the people of Ethiope East and Ukwani Local Government Areas .

The governor disclosed this during the resumed Town Hall meetings in Isiokolo and Obiaruku, headquarters of the the council areas where he had a no holds barred interface with the people

The town hall session which climaxed the earlier commissioning and inspection of projects in the two local government saw the Governor pledging to commence new developmental projects in the two LGAs.

Addressing the large crowd at Obiaruku, Senator Okowa disclosed that the revamped technical colleges now boost of increase number of enrolment of students.

According to the Governor, “the technical schools are centres for our youths to acquire skills that will make them self employed. Technical education is important to our children, in technical schools, they are not only taught how to acquire skills, but, also, conventional subjects they learn in secondary schools. It is our hope that the students will acquire the needed skills for them to establish on their own and we will, convert more secondary schools to technical schools.”

The Governor disclosed that his administration pays a lot of attention to the employment of youths through different skill and wealth creation programmes, noting that the World Bank has recognised efforts of his administration to take the youths out of the streets by making them job and wealth creators.

Speaking on the issues of severe attacks by herdsmen, Senator Okowa condoled with victims of herdsmen activities, disclosing that the Federal Government had set up a committee to proffer solutions to the challenges, he reassured Deltans that degradation of farmlands as a result of oil exploration activities have made it such that there is no land for Cattle Colony in the state.

The Governor urged the people to embrace the health insurance scheme stating that more than 60 hospitals and 100 health centres have been accredited for the programme.

He emphasised that the health insurance scheme was very important as it will ensure that people who do not have cash at hand will access medical facilities when they are ill.

Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Deputy Governor of Delta State and political office holders accompanied the Governor to the town hall meetings which he described as avenue for Deltans to freely assess his administration and contribute to the governance of the state.

The Governor commended Deltans for their support, assuring that his administration will continue to meet the yearnings of the people.

Chairman of Ethiope East and Ukwuani local government councils, Chief Faith Majemite and Chief Chukwudi Dafe respectively, traditional rulers and other stakeholders stated that Governor Okowa has done well for the people through his administration’s people-oriented programmes.
