Amaju says engaging youths in sport activities will reduce crime

The Chairman, Delta State Football Association (DFA), Mr. Amaju Pinnick has said that engaging the youths in sporting activities will help in reducing the rate of crime in the society.
Mr. Pinnick said this while receiving the sum of Ten Million Naira (N10m) from the Management of First City Monument Bank, on behalf of the Delta State Football Association, DFA, , as part of the bank’s contribution towards the building of a Football House in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
He therefore, called on corporate organizations within and outside the state to key into sports by way of sponsorship so as to engage the teeming unemployed youths and secure the future of the Nigerian youths.
He said; “When the youths in the society are involved in sports and sporting activities, the rate of crime will be drastically reduced, hence the need for all hands to be on deck and ensure that sporting activities are supported for the betterment of society.”

He commended the Management of First City Monument Bank for the bold initiative to partner the Delta State Football Association in its vision to build a Football House that would be named after Patrick Okpomor, which according to him would be ready sometime August 2013.

The Zonal Head, Midwest Region, First City Monument Bank, Mrs. Amaka Morakyo, commended the Delta State Football Association for their continued efforts towards the development of football in the state.

She said the bank was proud to associate with the football house, noting that the project will create various empowerment opportunities for the people of the state and beyond.

Present at the occasion were Board Members of the Football Association, Senior Management Staff of First City Monument Bank and former Commissioner of Sport, Delta State who is now the President, Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).
