EDO PRIMARY: APC ASPIRANT URGES MEMBERS TO SHUN POLITICS OF MONETIZATION

As the race for the sole-candidacy of All Progressive Congress, APC,
reach its horizon to decides who becomes the party flag bearer ahea
the 2016 governorship election in Edo State, one of the front line
aspirant, Professor Oserhiemen Osunbor, has urged the people of the state to consider the quality of prospective candidates and shun politics of monetization in its forthcoming Party’s primary to choose a veritable candidate.
He gave the charge on Monday at a press conference in Benin City
while declaring his intention to pitch tent with other aspirants in
the party primary’s and further contest the governorship election if
he wins the sole ticket.
The governorship hopeful however, lamented what he described as the “monetisation of electoral process,” urging the Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, to monitor campaign funds as stipulated in the electoral acts.
“ Money is not all it takes to win. Look at Buhari, if it is money,
Buhari would not have been President today. If somebody spends money to be elected, the first thing is to recover the money if he gets
elected,” he remarked.
He therefore charged the media to sensitize the electorate through its publications, adding “ they should be weary of people whose only
credential is money. They should also seek the quality of the
aspirants and not the money bags to ensure they deliver when they are call to serve .
“ If somebody spends money to be elected; the first thing is to
recover the money when he gets into office,” he said
He further explained that, he was in the race to sustain the
developmental strides of Governor Adams Oshiomhole; adding that, his impressive performance as governor in all spheres is too well known as well in his short spell at Dennis osadebe avenue .
He listed his achievements as governor to include, roads construction and rehabilitation across the state, increase in worker’s salary, payment of bursary and pension to retirees.
