Olu of Warri not Dead, Itsekiri Group

Following the rumoured demise of the Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atiwatse II, an Itsekiri group under the aegis of Itsekiri Integrity Group (IIG)c has debunked the rumour, saying that the monarch was only having health issues which will be made public through the Warri Traditional Council at the appropriate time.
The group stated this in a press statement signed by the Chairman, Prince Moses O. Fregene, the Secretary, Barr. Robinson Ariyo and thirty seven others, and made available to our correspondent in Warri yesterday.
According to the group, the IIG is committed to the promotion of every strand of the custom and tradition of it’s people, adding that they will do everything lawful to guarantee the rule and customary practice and procedure of the Itsekiri nation.
“It is no longer news that the social and mainstream media is saturated with the news of the demise of His Royal Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse II.
“We admit that his Majesty has some issues with his health. All we need to do is pray for his quick recovery. We promise to let you know through the Warri Traditional Council should his condition improves or deteriorate,” the statement reads.
“The Iwere Integrity Group (IIG) is a group of strict adherent of the custom and tradition of Itsekiri. IIG is made up of princess and princesses, sons and daughters of Chiefs as well leaders of different villages and towns across Warri Kingdom; all of whom are desirous of upholding the uprightness of a people who have been organized under one tongue and crown for over 500 years,” the statement added.
