Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State has said that he deliberately took over the construction of some Federal roads that run through the state due to their economic viability to the state, but would not rule out seeking refund from the Federal Government, just as he said that he was keeping to his electoral promises to Deltans.

He, however, lamented the incessant vandalisation of some of the projects, such as schools in some communities.

Several primary and secondary schools, according to him had been constructed under the special infrastructure put in place to fast track development in the state at a cost of N7 Billion.

The Governor, who spoke through the Commissioner for Special Duties (Special Infrastructure), Mrs. Orezi Esievo at a media parley in Asaba, said; “The 149Km road that I like calling 300 kilometre, is one of the best decisions that this Governor has taken. It stretches from Ughelli to Asaba and opens up over 70 communities.”

Governor Uduaghan said “To the best of my knowledge, I have fulfilled my electoral promises to Deltans. This administration has done well in job creation. We are having challenges especially in Delta Central and South Senatorial Districts with the communities not being friendly to contractors executing government projects and it is my appeal to our people that they should own the projects; we all have to work together to protect these projects in our various communities.”
