Edwin Clark University Ranks 25 Out Of 249 Universities In Nigeria By NUC, All Programme’s Accredited—Ag. V. C

Edwin Clark University (ECU), Kiagbodo in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State established barely eight years ago has been ranked 25th position out of over 200 private, State and Federal Universities in the country by the National University Commission (NUC) just as management has in a bid to create conducive atmosphere for learning, teaching and research has installed 33KVA switch gear to improve electricity supply to the Campus.
This was disclosed Prof. Samuel C. O. Ugbolue A.g. Vice Chancellor, Edwin Clark University (ECU), Kiagbodo while addressing journalists in Campus, he said that management has concluded a breakthrough research into environmental and industrial chemistry aimed at effectively dealing with the environmental issues in the Niger Delta region.
Prof. Ugbolue also said that the University has concluded research on new high yielding agricultural methodologies in fisheries and cassava production.
The Ag. Vice Chancellor said that the press briefing was specifically organized by the institution “in celebration of the National University Commission (NUC) 2023 ranking of the University as 25th among the entire 249 Universities in Nigeria, overall 6th position among Private Universities and Number One University in the South South. For Edwin Clark University, Kiagbodo to be ranked 25th among 249 Universities in Nigeria is something to be proud of and the University is indeed proud”.
According to Prof. Ugbolue, “the criteria adopted by NUC for the ranking included level of funding, staff/students ratio, community service, linkages, research undertakings as well as interface with other international and government agencies among others. We are all celebrating on Campus today. Our sacrifices and services to Edwin Clark University are fully acknowledged”.
Prof. Ugbolue however added that “despite the NUC ranking, we would not rest on our oars but would persistently continue to strive for greater heights. We shall continue to work extra hard in all areas with a view to move up the ladder of recognition. As management, we remain focused in providing the facilities for improved teaching, learning and research, we shall also continue advancing the well being and welfare of our staff and students”.
Speaking on Programme’s in the University, the Ag. Vice Chancellor disclosed with delight that the entire 27 programmes presently offered in the five Faculties of the University are fully accredited. Our students population of 1,479 in 2023/2024 academic session are all fully residential.”
While appealing for support in terms of funding and facilities from relevant Government agencies and stakeholders to further boost the institution’s academic curricula and further enhance welfare of students and staff, Prof. Ugbolue listed some of the accomplishments of the University in the 2023/2024 academic session to include but not limited to the relocation of School of Post Graduate Studies to a permanent building, opening of a new Male Hall of Residence 11, refurbishing of a new Female Hall 11 for more bed-spaces, improvements on the water reticulation/bore holes, opening of a Post Graduate Hall of Residence.
