Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State has said that the people of Delta State will be liberated from the shackles of poverty which he claimed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State has put them, if they all vote for Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, the All Progressives Congress (APC) party Candidate in the state.
Governor Aregbesola said this recently while playing host to the Delta APC Governorship candidate, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor who was in Osun state in continuation of his visits to All Progressive Congress (APC) State Governors across the country.
While briefing newsmen after a crucial meeting held behind closed doors, the Osun State Governor said: “My brother (Olorogun Emerhor) is here to see me and we discussed in details some strategies concerning the forthcoming governorship elections in Delta State.
“APC is very much interested in winning the elections there which is why all our Governors must of a necessity provide necessary advise and other legitimate assistance to enable Olorogun Emerhor conquer the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.
“The good people of Delta State are yearning for good governance which has eluded them for nearly sixteen years now. The defunct Bendel State comprises of Edo and Delta States. Edo people are now enjoying substantial dividend of democracy and it is fair that Delta state should not be left in the dark.”
Governor Aregbesola added: “Since 1999, the resources of Delta went down the drain and there is visible acute hunger, infrastructural decay and lack of social services. A few people who constituted themselves as political cabal in PDP have squandered the huge financial resources of the state and the end to misrule is now at sight.
“We are worried. Governor Oshomole of Edo State is also worried because they are neighbours. We in the State of Osun have also assured the people of Delta State and Olorogun Emerhor that their struggle is our struggle. We shall do the needful to ensure that Deltans are rescued from the strong grip of socio-economic stagnation and misappropriation of public funds.
“Government of the State of Osun is ready at all times to give quality assistance to Olorogun Emerhor to succeed. As you already know, he is one of best brains in our country today, haven made first class honours degree in Accounting from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He once managed and nurtured some of the banks which later merged to become mega financial institutions in Nigeria.
“He is a turn-around expert who as a valuable consultant assistant several moribund companies to bounce back to relevance in the manufacturing and corporate world. As we speak, Olorogun Emerhor is the Vice Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer of Standard Alliance insurance Plc, among other blue-ship companies. In all, Deltans are lucky and privileged to have him as their next governor. APC and its leadership will consistently assist him to recover Delta State from the shackles of darkness and then restore good governance and prudent management of state resources.
While thanking Governor Aregbesola for opening his doors very wide to receive him and his entourage, Olorogun Emerhor said that Aregbesola was one of the few governors in Nigeria that had been fighting injustice, corruption and societal ills.
He told newsmen that the transformation that has taken place in the State of Osun since Gov Aregbesola took over the mantle of leadership was overwhelming and breath-taking. He said he joined the APC because of the leadership examples that their governors and elected representatives at all levels have so far exhibited to bring about rapid socio-economic development of their states and jurisdictions.
The APC Delta governorship candidate further asserted that Deltans have been short-changed by successive governments, resulting in mismanagement of huge financial resources. He promise to turn around the state economic fortunes within the first one hundred (100) days in office by channeling resources to service “Access Points” which will be created and approved micro-finance banks will disburse funds to empower local entrepreneurs, farmers, artisans and other categories of unskilled labourers in the state.
Olorogun Emerhor said, if elected in 2015, his administration will inject at least N10 billion (Ten billion Naira) within first one hundred days in office, to tackle poverty alleviation, women and youth empowerment, adding that, the ruling PDP in the state will not be able to stop the decision of Deltans during the forthcoming elections. He said Deltans have resolved to protect their votes in 2015 hence it will be absolutely difficult for PDP to rig the 2015 governorship elections in the state.
