Media Aides to Delta Governor Urged to Uphold Professionalism, Promote Policies, Programmes Of Administration

Senior Special Assistant (SSA)on Media to Governor of Delta State, Mr Dennis Otu has called on media aides to the Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and play active roles in promoting policies and programmes of the government.

Speaking at an interactive session with Delta Central Senatorial District media aides to the governor at Bem Vindo Hotel, Osubi, Mr Otu emphasized the critical role they play in shaping the narrative of the state.

In his address entitled: “Effective Media Management: Enhancing the Governor’s Agenda”,Mr Otu reminded the media aides of their key responsibilities, which include the accurate dissemination of information, effective image management, crisis communication, and fostering positive media relations.

Mr Otu who was the Chief Press Secretary (CPS ) to Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori when he was the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, urged them to ensure that the Governor’s policies, programmes, and initiatives reach the public in an accurate and timely manner.

“Your work is crucial in promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability. You are the bridge between the government and the people. We count on you to help shape the story of Delta State,” Otu stated.

He also outlined key principles that should guide their work, stressing the importance of transparency, accountability, professionalism, and proactivity.

According to him, media aides must be vigilant in combating misinformation and fake news, particularly in the age of social media.

He implored the media aides to leverage social media platforms to engage citizens, promote the Governor’s agenda, and ensure that the public is well-informed about the administration’s achievements.

Mr Otu also acknowledged the challenges media aides face, particularly in dealing with false narratives and unverified news. However, he expressed confidence that the Governor’s administration is committed to addressing these issues through transparency and effective communication.

The former Chief Press Secretary spoke highly of Governor Oborevwori’s commitment to the state, noting that since taking office in May 2023, the Governor has prioritized development in all parts of Delta State.

He stressed the Governor’s previous achievements as Speaker of the State House of Assembly and reassured the media aides that his administration is on course to build on the progress made by past governments.

According to him; “As Apostles of the MORE Agenda of our dynamic Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, we must continue to appreciate him for making us his Media Aides and we must not disappoint him in any way. We do not have other tasks than showcasing the beautiful things he has been doing in the state since he came on board May 29th, 2023”.

He also said that; “The Governor has spread development to all parts of the state, hence the reduction in complaints of marginalization. He came prepared to serve Deltans as their Governor. He did extremely well as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly and it is still on record as the longest Speaker of the House”.

“The Governor that I know very well will not disappoint the people because he is not a failure. He has passion for the job and under his watch, Delta State will be transformed as you can see already in all parts of the state. Previous administrations did well and he is building on the already laid foundation.

This is one promise you can take to the bank, our Governor is going to leave the state better than he met it. It is for us to continue to pray for him for God to continue to grant him good health and wisdom to take our state to greater heights”, the former CPS said.

“As media aides, you are the guardians of the Governor’s message. Your work is crucial in promoting good governance, transparency, and accountability. I urge you to remain committed to the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and excellence. Let the whole world know through you the wonderful things that the Governor is doing”, he added.

Mr Otu, also urged the media aides to remain committed to their roles, ensuring that they uphold the Governor’s message of development, inclusivity, and progress, just as he encouraged them to continue praying for the Governor, asking for God’s guidance and wisdom as he leads the state to greater heights.

The meeting, hosted by Amb Ese Joshua Emadifie (Chief Sir Dante), SSA Media and Coordinator Delta Central Media aides to the Governor of Delta State, was an opportunity for media aides to reflect on their roles in promoting the Governor’s agenda and ensuring effective communication with the public.
