The apex youth organization of the Itsekiri ethnic nationality known as Itsekiri National Youth Council (INYC) worldwide has submitted their working Charter to the Olu of Warri Kingdom, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, CFR, marshalling out their modus operandi.

The proposed Charter is a product of a Committee set up by the revered monarch following his dissolution of the then crisis ridden existing INYC executive.

The Charter Committee led by a former tested youth leader and activist, Chief Omolubi Newuwumi comprised of youths carefully selected from across Iwereland.

The Charter amongst others bars any politician from becoming INYC president just as it also stipulate only a single 4-year term for all president with no opportunity for a second tenure.

It further states that a president must not be above 40-years of age when contesting for the coveted seat, even as the presidency will now rotate within the 3-Warri LGAs and what is now to be known as Warri Central Zone comprising Itsekiri youths in Edo state and other local government areas outside the 3-Warri.

Specifically, the Charter states that His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III CFR is the father of the INYC and has the final authority and say in the running of the affairs of the apex youth body.

Speaking exclusively on the presented Charter that was generally consented to by the mammoth youth meeting/gathering at the Atuwatse 11 hall at the Itsekiri ancestral home of Ode-Itsekiri on Saturday, His Majesty Ogiame admonished the youths to be guided by the extant provisions of the Charter, just as he charged them to be more united, focused and patriotic in the discharged of their duties of defense and propagation of the growth and development of Iwereland.

Chief Omolubi Newuwumi who midwife the Charter disclosed to newsmen that a congress of the INYC would soon be held where an electoral body would be put in place in preparation for elections into the various INYC offices, stating “that the presidency for now has been zoned to Warri North in the first term and charged all aspirants to start warming up for the election that would signal the rebirth of a more vibrant INYC and a new dawn in the struggle for Itsekiri survival”.
