Urhobo Progress Union: Stop the Campaign of Calumny against Tantita Security Service – Nemejor

Christopher Odamah, Effurun
A former Chairmanship aspirant of Ughelli South Local Government of Delta State, Hon. Ogheneochuko Fredrick Nemejor has taken a swipe against the Urhobo Progress Union (UPU) for calling on the cancellation of Tantita Security Services Contract.
Speaking to newsmen today in Effurun, he said the Tantita Security Service Nigeria Limited has done well and is still doing marvellously well in securing our pipelines within its enmarked jurisdiction. This is evident in the increase in crude oil production in the State and Nation.
Nemejor expressed concern that the current agitations for the cancellation of Tantita’s surveillance contract were politically motivated which aimed at weakening the existing oil security architecture.
He said the Security firm has significantly reduced illegal bunkering activities since its inception in 2022; not to mention the massive employment done by the Tantita Security Service in which the Urhobos are not left out.
According to him, “Tantita security is one of the best things that has happened to us all within the Niger Delta Region. Tantita employs the Urhobos, Itsekiris, Isokos and other tribes to ensure an elaborate coverage in securing our national assets”.
In his words, “UPU should not disrupt the robust relationship being enjoyed by the Ijaws and Urhobos”.
“The Ijaws are peaceful and loving neighbours of the Urhobos and not to undermine the national economic stability and revert to the dark era of rampant oil theft,” he added.
This ethnic agitation is not only hypocritical but also suspicious and called on security agencies and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to disregard the orchestrated agitations of cancellation.
He warned those trying to fan the embers of war within the Niger Delta region through their deceitful way of life to desist from doing so, noting that Tantita’s contract was a child of necessity that has yielded tangible results in curbing oil theft and protecting vital infrastructure.
