IN THE SPIRIT OF DON CHIZO. HON SOLOMON AWHINAWHI, THE FRENZY OVATION AND THE 2019 UGHELLI NORTH, SOUTH AND UDU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY WINNING GAME.

If truth be told, there are certain clear cut indices to be considered when making political predictions and mapping of electioneering victories. One of such is the “direct connection” of a grassroots politician with his people. This factor far outweighs other petty factors.

No serious political leader and strategic party structure would ignore the “flexing capacity” of an aspirant with his people and go for a complete “novice” and a “money bag” who is 10, 000 miles away from eligible voters and the major players in a given constinuency or senatorial district especially the youth who are the “brain-box” of electioneering battles.

The YOUTH are the BATTLE AXE of partisan politics and their voices and body language cannot be ignored by experienced political strategists and victory astrologers.

It follows that in making decisions either at day time or wee-hours caucus meetings, political leaders and party politics strategists must never make the mistake of ignoring the most vital ingredient for winning, that is, an aspirant’s “solid and direct connection” with his constituents and eligible voters as well as positive relationship with the party leadership within a given political milieu.

I was in Ughelli recently for a political gathering of “who is who” in Ughelli political radar and I was thrilled by a particular scene that conjured everyone’s attention.

The entrance to the venue of the political meeting was virtually blocked and occupied by thousands of youth from Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency; fully armed with musical gong and tambourine.

They created a tiny entrance into the venue, formed cluster groups and rendered superlative songs, danced and chanted “NA DON CHIZO NAH HIM WE WANT OOO! It was indeed a funkified political jamboree to behold. I meandered into the venue as some of the youth roared “THE PEN EAGLE, MEDIA PROFESSOR, et al.

I became curious to know the man DON CHIZO, and I was amazed to hear that Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi, the incumbent member representing Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency is the political mobilizer and Youth General that goes by the alias DON CHIZO.

OH my goodness, the vibrant young men and women suddenly disappeared and reappeared with placards, new songs and sophisticated drum beats to register their support and absolute loyalty to their loved and cherished DON CHIZO.

I looked round and didn’t see any other aspirant with such huge support and political razmatazz. At that moment, it became very clear from the very inside of me that the peoples DON CHIZO is a political strategist and grassroots mobilizer that can neither be undermined nor ignored in electioneering contest, specially by political structures hungry landslide victory in Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency, come 2019.

When I later ran into Hon Solomon Ahwinahwi both at General Oneya’s birthday Thanksgiving service and at Redson Place, I dignified his alias by a subtle shout of DON CHIZO, the man of the people. He smiled and gave me a Hi-5 with THE PEN EAGLE screaming out gently from his velvet voice.

On this note, DON CHIZO, I say GO AGAIN. the good people of Ughelli North, South and Udu Federal Constituency truly love you.
