Let me assure our dear students that this polytechnic shall continue to place necessary premium and priority on the conducive environment needed to undertake academic activities.

“Let me also inform you that some of us started academic career from the polytechnic just like you. I was a student of the defunct Ozoro Polytechnic many years ago but today, I am the rector of this polytechnic. That is a record which you may well be proud of.  I can assure you that with hard work, you will find it interesting and satisfying to pass through the polytechnic just as I did at my time. Certainly, all that it takes for you to realize and achieve your potential is readily available in this great polytechnic.

“Let me use this opportunity to pay tribute to His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, the executive Governor of Delta State and visitor to the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro for his commitment and support through the gracious release of funds for the functional operations of the polytechnic and prompt payment of staff salaries. His Excellency, Sen. (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, has also released the one hundred million naira to facilitate the speedy completion of the polytechnic stadium.

He charged the matriculating students to be diligent in their studies and make self discipline their watch word saying “The polytechnic diploma is only conferred on students who are found worthy both in learning and character. If you fail to meet these criteria, you will certainly not leave here with any certificate.

“I therefore urge you to continue to apply yourself diligently to your studies and make self discipline your watch word. Focus on the reasons why you have come to school and shun all acts of misconducts which have been clearly indicated in the student information hand book.  Many have been expelled as a result of their involvement in on unwholesome acts in the past and I pray that that will not be your portion and if do not deviate from these words of wisdom you have heard today, it will propel you to the next level.

“Let me however add that the management of the polytechnic and staff are fully committed to the welfare of students. We shall continue to maintain high standards of discipline and commitment to excellence. Bring up your problems and we shall assist you as much as possible .The Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro which was established by law enacted by the Delta State Government on November 12th 2002, presently have five schools, 21 departments and 30 programs. It is worthy to note that all the 30 programs have been approved and accredited by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

He concluded by saying “It is very gratifying to note that we have automated our teaching methods and preparation of results. Today, we are able to prepare and approve results of each semester before the commencement of the preceding one because of the automated computation of results which is yet to be achieved by many other institutions of higher learning. Within the last three years, the polytechnic have been transformed from what it used to be to a modern, prestigious and fastest growing institution in Nigeria with numerous befitting structures expected of a 21st century tertiary institution.
