Ahead of the celebration of the Contriman Governor’s two years in office which is expected to be marked on February 14th 2014, the member representing constituency one, Kolokuma-Opokuma LGA, in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Tonye Emmanuel Isena, in collaboration with the Ministry of Sports Development, has organized a football competition to appreciate him (Dickson) for his developmental strides within these years.

Hon. Isena, while speaking to newsmen at the Samson Siasia SportsStadium in Yenagoa, after the opening match between Gbarain All Stars and the Sagbama All Star on Saturday, stressed the need for all Bayelsans to come out and support the governor.

He also disclosed that the competition is significant because it is meant to showcase to the world that Bayelsans welcome and support the administration of Governor Henry Seriake Dickson.

His words: “What can I do when he is preparing to celebrate his two years in office? At what time are we going to take record of what he has done? I understood that the major sports that unifies people in this country is football and we decided to use it to celebrate his two years in office.”

“I also thought that we have had series of football competition, basically it has been youths, we decided to put glamour into it, so we decided to use the All Stars which comprises of those above 40 years of age. “You saw what happened, goals that were supposed to have been scored were not and people were laughing.”

Hon. Isena added that he will try to make the football competition a yearly one to honour the governor for his efforts to develop the
state.

The opening game between Gbarain All Stars and Sagbama All Stars ended goal less after 90 minutes of what they described as  comedy football as both sides could not utilise their goal scoring chances.
