By Francis Sadhere
Chairman of Egbama/Gbaramatu Communities Development Foundation,(EGCDF) and a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Delta State, Chief Michael Johnny has condemned the continued attacks on oil facilities by militants, describing those involved in the bombings as unpatriotic elements from the Niger Delta region that must be dealt with.
Chief Johnny who stated this while addressing a press conference in the oil-rich city of Warri, urged security agents to bring those wrecking havoc on the Nigerian economy to book to pay for their evil acts.
Chief Johnny noted that well known ex-militants who fed fat on the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan cannot be ruled out of the renewed attacks on oil facilities, imploring youths in the Niger Delta region not to allow themselves to be used to cause havoc again.
According to him, no wise Niger Delta youth was ready to go back to the Creeks, considering the pains they passed through during the dark days of militancy.
While saying that the Ijaws were not ready to be at loggerhead with the Federal Government, Chief Johnny added that Ijaws were still licking their wounds since the Nigerian Army destroyed their communities.
He expressed his displeasure over the unabated bombimgs of oil facilities in the region, adding that with the performance of the present government, he do not expect Niger Deltans to go back to the Creeks again.
He said he was worried about the insinuation in some quarters linking him to attacks on oil facilities and made it clear that he is not and was never part of pipeline bombings in the Niger Delta region, warning politicians, any person or group of persons not to associate him with Criminality.
Chief Johnny said he has no case with the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), just as he asked those who have problems with the EFCC to go and solve their problems with the commission without involving innocent people of the region.
The EGCDF boss expressed confidence in the administration of President Mohammadu Buhari, urging Niger Deltans to support his government as he is poised to develop the region to the delight of the people.
Chief Johnny, a former PDP chieftain in Delta State, said he decided to dump the Party for the APC because PDP failed the people in the past sixteen years.
He added that it was because of his believe in the APC that made him to decamp to the ruling APC that has come with a wind of Change for the people, imploring Nigerians to be patient with President Buhari.
