OGHENETEJIRI NYERHOVWO

Comr. Weyinmi Olley, National Coordinator, Niger Delta Grassroots Movement (NDGM) has called on Itsekiri Nation to organize a Town Hall meeting to proffer solutions to the myraids of issues confronting Itsekiri.

Comr. Olley made this call in Warri while speaking to journalists, he said that there was need to promote a united and peaceful co-existence among the Itsekiris and live in harmony with her neighbours.

Comr. Olley then called on Itsekiris to promote and preserve their culture and tradition, adding that in time past Itsekiris were highly admired and respected because of their dignity, unity and influence in all spheres of life.

According to him, “if the Itsekiris of old lived like this, there would have been no Itsekiri in existence today. Our ancestors are angry because things are not going the way it should be.”

Comr. Olley stated that the Town Hall meeting he is advocating for became necessary to all Itsekiris to enable them address all the pressing issues as well establish the truth and fashion out viable programmes that would move the Iwere Nation forward.

He pointed out that the proposed Town Hall meeting which should come up within the shortest possible time, would afford the people the opportunity to speak their minds and contribute their quota, adding that, moderators and seasoned technocrats would be on ground to articulate all matters raised and suggestions as working tools to improve the lives of the Itsekiri people and accelerate the development of Itsekiri Nation.

Comr. Olley suggested that the proposed Itsekiri Town Hall meeting should have in attendance Itsekiri Leaders of Thought (ILT), anointed Itsekiri men of God such as Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor and Rev. (Dr.) S.E Gbejoro as well as some prominent Itsekiris such as Hon. Thomas Ereyitomi, Hon. Daniel Reyeineju, Hon. (Barr.) Daniel Mayuku, Hon. David Tonwe, Hon. Evang. Michael Diden Alias Ejele, Hon.
