Great Delta 2023: “Let’s Give Ogboru a Chance”
By Nelson Onovughe
As the race to Denis Osadebe House Asaba hots up come 2023 gubanatorial election the need to make an introspective analysis of the forces at play becomes imperative.
It is not in doubt that Delta State is a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) State since the inception of party politics with Chief James Ibori, as it’s first Executive Governor.
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan stepped into the big shoes of Chief James Ibori as the second elected Governor of the oil rich State and was followed by the incumbent Governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa all of the PDP respectively.
In all, the trio would have ruled Delta State for a total of twenty four (24) years. This no doubt is no mean achievement for the PDP in a multi-party system of any democratic practice where opposition parties abounds.
The truth however is that in Delta State the only political party that has a semblance of opposition is the crisis-ridden fractionalized All Progressives Congress (APC). The others are practically non-existent and inconsequential at the field of play.
Now it is well know that Delta State is one of the richest State in Nigeria. If this is the truth, then the State should be a Dubai in Nigeria and the citizens living in Eldorado of some sort. But the State, by every index of wealth measurements in all ramifications of development and growth points to the opposite direction because infrastructural decadence and deficiency stares at us from all nook and crannies of the State.
Unemployment, poverty, gloom and insecurity pervades everywhere gleefully with only politicians of the PDP leaning living large to the chagrin and detriment of majority of Deltans.
Like in the larger Nigeria society, the PDP and its opposition APC are both birds of the same feathers bereft of any political ideology and peopled by old, feeble, clueless and rudderless leaders bereft of further ideas is saturated by individual greed, corruption, lawlessness and gross indiscipline.
These bunch of politicians of both the PDP and APC have continued to re-cycle and imposed themselves on Deltans without an iota of remorse but with a large dose of impurity and pomposity, to say the least.
In Delta State, bad governance is the in-thing. All strata of governance has collapsed and remain comatos. Teachers and pensioners salaries and emoluments are not being paid.
Borrowing to offset political bribery debt running into trillions of naira has become the bane future generations of Deltans must bear to satisfy the immediate greed of our political leaders with doubtful academic credentials and several other hidden skeletons in their cupboards.
It is against these backgrounds that we must come together to chart the way forward for a new Delta State and change the narratives for the practical growth and tangible development of Delta State.
At this juncture, let us recall that it is with genuine and determined ambition to succeed and attain his dream that catapulted and eventually saw President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Rock today after my years of electoral trial and failure.
We have tested some political gladiators in the State and discover their worthlessness and insensitivity to the plight of the common man.
They have all failed and yet are still aspiring to rule us under the PDP and APC platforms but both parties are one.
Now that the PDP/APC are in disarray in the State with multiple court cases, it has become germane to choose a neutral gubernatorial candidate in the person of the well known Chief GREAT Ogboru who has been in the gubernatorial race for quite some years now and still in the race for the 2023 elections.
It appears that the coast is now clear for him to emerge as the Governor of Delta State this time around and it is time to try a fresh hand and a political heavy weight, a true and patriotic Nigerian and an International businessman per excellence.
A true Deltan that has the vision, wisdom and political acumen to take the State to the next level of economic and socio-political growth.
A true Deltan desirous to serve and rescue the State from the rot wrecked on us by the PDP and it’s associates rudderless politicians.
Chief Great Ovadje Ogboru, is a detribalized Deltan, let us give him a chance to govern the state come 2023 gubernatorial election to occupy the Government House, Asaba and together we shall rejoice as he is determined to spread development across the State with fairness, justice, equity and the fear of God Almighty in mind.
