EDO PSN MARKS WEEK, CALL FOR SYNERGY AMONG HEALTH SECTOR
By Eben Enasco Kingsley, Benin City
Team work has been asserted as the ability for a group of people to work together to achieve a common goal.
This was disclosed in a welcome address delivered by the chairman, pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) Edo State Branch, Pharm. Chris Iyare on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Pharmacy week in Benin.
Iyare stated that the 2015 Pharmaceutical week is a unique one hence tagged “Team Work in Health Care Delivery: The Role of the Pharmacists” adding that the choice of the theme for this year’s Pharmacy week cannot be more apt because there is need for reforms in the Nigerian health sector which calls for synergy of all the professional members of the Health Care team.
His words: “The need for an elaborate collaborations in the Health care team cannot be over-emphasized. If we imagine a football team, all the members (goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders and attackers)must co-operate and play as a unit to be able to achieve success. Whereas, goal keepers are allowed to use their hands to make contact with the ball, it is an offence for other players to do same. If an attacker has opportunity to defend and prevent a goal, he cannot wait for a defender who has been assigned that primary task.”
Pharm. Iyare pointed out that members of the health care team, the Pharmacists are keen in addressing medication problems and adverse drug reactions for the overall benefit of patients; adding that as part of activities to mark this year’s Annual Pharmacy Week, will feature a very educative and silk-screening training/ workshop which is organized by the publishers of ENDEX in collaboration with ACPN/PSN, Edo State.
While enjoining all Pharmacists to participate actively in all activities of the week, as there are lots to be benefited, he appreciated members of EXCO and others for their commitment towards the success of this year’s Pharmacy week.
The opening programme of the day featured lectures, question and answer session; skillfully delivered by erudite scholars in the field of pharmacy with the likes of Pham. (Sir) Ifeanyi Atueyi,FPSN MD, Pharmanews Publications Ltd., Dr. Valentine U.Odili, FPCPharm amongst others.
