Obey social distancing or we shutdown makeshift markets – Tidi warns traders
Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, has read the riot act to traders in the makeshift markets in Warri, warning them to immediately adhere to the advisory on social distancing or face outright shutdown of the markets.
Dr. Tidi, handed down the warning today, Wednesday April 8, when he led the Police Area Commander in Warri and members of the Warri South Local Government Council COVID – 19 Rapid Response Team, to monitor the compliance level of the lockdown declared by the Delta State Government.
The Warri South Local Government Chairman, who ordered traders of foodstuffs at Igbudu Market and Ugbuwangue Modern Market to immediately relocate to the nearby schools allocated to them to sell their wares between 10 am and 2 pm daily, noted that anyone caught flouting the state government’ s order during the lockdown period, will be prosecuted by the mobile court approved for the area.
Members of the Warri South Council COVID – 19 Rapid Response Team, which also include Vice Chairman of Warri South, Chief Divine Iniovosa, Secretary to the Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye and the council’s supervisors, also went round some major roads and streets in Warri.
