Herdsmen kill Former PDP Chairman In Abavo

Gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen has killed the pioneer chairman of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Ward 10 in Abavo, Ika South Local Government Área of Delta State.
Findings revealed that Elder Francis Amamosa was killed in his farm along the corridors of the rail way line in Okpe Quarters, Abavo.
The octogenarian politician and community leader was said to have been attacked and killed in the early hours of Monday, April 29, 2024 by the herdsmen who allegedly took over his farm and attempted to kidnap him along with two other farmers.
It was gathered that Elder Amamosa was said to have resisted the kidnappers and questioned their audacity to order him out of his farm following which the gun tottering herdsmen reportedly opened fire at him.
It was gathered that when the bullets failed to penetrate the courageous and fearless politician, the assailants resorted to the use of machete to inflict deadly cuts on him, consequent upon which he reportedly gave up the ghost.
It was further gathered that two other farmers who were with the deceased during the incident were later abducted by the herders.
The remains of late Elder Amamosa has been deposited at the mortuary while the matter has been reported at the Abavo Police Division for investigations.
A similar report from the area indicates that a middle aged man was reportedly killed in similar circumstances in Abavo Community on Friday last week.
Following the development, palpable fear and tension is currently pervading the air as people are scared to go to their farms even as social life is completely dead in the area.
Contacted, DSP Bright Edafe, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command confirmed the incident adding that police had commenced investigation into the matter.
