He said; “The APC candidate for the Delta Central Senatorial bye-election, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor will make a good senator and so I am urging the people of the district to vote for him and vote out PDP that has nothing to offer Nigerians. We are tired of suffering in Nigeria and we want a change, that is why Nigerians should embrace APC that has come to hope to the hopeless.”
The Governor who implored the people of the district to protect their votes in the October 12 Senatorial bye-election, added that, “It is only APC that will give you free education. It is only APC that will give the youths employment. In Imo state there is already free education right from primary to tertiary institution.”
His Edo State Counterpart, Comrade Oshiomole also drummed support for Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, saying he is a candidate to beat in the forth coming bye-election.
The Governor said that the people of the district had already shown their capacity to stand on their own when they voted massively for the late Pius Ewherido who had concluded plans to move to the APC before his untimely death and urged the people of the district to vote wisely come October 12.
“The people of Delta Central have produced rugged, dogged and intelligent persons who have become great men in the country. The Urhobos have shown the world that they can stand their ground. Emerhor is a self made man who has done so much for the Urhobo people. Do not allow anybody to deceive you. This time we want you to go out and vote, protect and defend your votes.
Also speaking, Chief Ikimi told the mammoth crowd that the PDP was dead, stressing that this was the time for all those who have the interest of the nation at heart to join the APC.
He also said that he was pleased to see the unity in APC, saying that the party was now stronger than it was before and that the party was going to claim more states, urging support for Emerhor to replace late Ewherido.
Speaking shortly he was presented with the party’s flag by Governor Oshiomole, the APC Senatorial candidate, Olorogun Emerhor said the party has come to stay in Delta State and promised effective representation of the people of the district if elected.
He said; “In 2011 the people of Delta Central rejected the PDP. You elected our late brother Senator Ewherido in spite of the oppression of the PDP. Now two third of the DPP is in APC. My entry into the race is for the interest of Delta Central people. It is not about me per se. I am an established business man and I could continue to focus on my business. But this is about developing Delta Central. This is to ensure that Delta Central which comprises mainly of Urhobos are well represented. I am going there to negotiate and get the zone the best representation.
