PTI HAS TRAINED OVER 20,000 STUDENTS SINCE INCEPTION—PRINCIPAL

Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun has trained over 20,000 students since it’s inception fifty years ago just as they are in every facets of oil, gas and allied industries.

This was disclosed by Dr. Henry A. Adimula, Principal and Chief Executive, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Effurun at the matriculation ceremony for full-time and School of Industrial Continuing Education Programmes, 2021/2022 Academic Session, he said that 1,267 candidates were offered admission into both the National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) Programmes for the 2021/2022 academic session.

Dr. Adimula further disclosed that in a bid to ensure collaborative synergy between the Institute and the oil and gas industry, the Institute introduced the National Skills Qualification Framework(NSQF) into the PTI’s educational system to essentially develop, classify and recognize skills, knowledge and competences acquired by individuals irrespective of how the skills and training were acquired.

According to Dr. Adimula, “PTI has come of age, this year we shall celebrate our golden jubilee. In the last fifty(50years), we have trained over twenty thousand (20,000) students who are now in every facet of the oil, gas and allied industries in Nigeria and all over the world.”

On the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF), the Principal and Chief Executive of the PTI has this to say, “it is essentially to develop, classify and recognize skills, knowledge and competences that is acquired by individuals irrespective of how the skills and training were acquired. It is highbred certification system that ensures continuous training of competent hands for the oil and gas.”

He added, “in order to ensure that our students study in a conducive atmosphere, we have provided facilities and amenities that are of high quality and we shall continue to improve on their quality with the provision of more funds from the Federal Government of Nigeria. Our laboratories and workshops are second to none in Nigeria. Our library is a repository of current textbooks, journals and manuals and they are at the disposal of students.”

While congratulating the matriculating students for gaining admission into the Institute, Dr. Adimula warned them against involving themselves in vices like examination misconduct, physical and all forms of assault, cultism, drug peddling and smoking of Indian Hemp on campus, certificate forgery, improper dressing, exposure of body parts , stealing, misuse of social media among many others.

He further added, ” let me sound a note of warning that any student found guilty of any of the vices listed above would be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
