Stay Away From Politics, Etoromi Tells Buhari
By Tejiri Ebikeme
THE Chairman of Niger Delta Forum for Good Governance, (Chief) Col. Satchie Ayomike Etoromi (rtd) has advised General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) to dump his Presidential ambition and save himself another disgraceful defeat at the 2015 Presidential Elections.
In an interview, Col Etoromi, described as a big shame the recent loan Gen. Buhari claimed he took to pick up Presidential nomination form of the APC.
He said; “It is a thing of shame for Gen. Buhari to obtain a loan of N27.5 Million for APC nomination form. I believe he will still go for another loan for his campaign which will be more than this and if he wins, Nigerians will see him use corrupt means to pay back the loans through our nose, I am therefore appealing to him to dump his Presidential ambition now to save himself from shame.”
According to him also, “We should not encourage politicians to use corrupt means to get into office. Gen. Buhari should stay away from politics because for three times he has been rejected by the electorate and he had even said that he will not contest Presidential election again. Now he has swallowed his word by picking Presidential election form again for the 2015 polls, he should dump his ambition and regain himself respect and remain a Statesman. It will be a shame if he stands again and fail as underage children will not vote for him again. He should save us that shame and not run again for the office of President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
Col. Etoromi claimed that politicians from the North including General Buhari destroyed infrastructure left in the country at Independence and President Goodluck Jonathan has progressively fixed up the railways, airports, roads, agriculture, etc again through his transformation agenda programme and made the “Nigeria factor” the stump of our national failures.
“Politicians from the North including Gen Muhamadu Buhari destroyed the railway system, the telecommunication, the ports, the roads, the airports, postal services and the steel sector through bad policies and incompetence. Now that things have started working again through the determined efforts of President Goodluck Jonathan, Northern politicians should allow him serve his second term so that he can complete the good work he is doing,” he stated.
He implored Nigerians to be more honest and less deceitful as a people and shun corruption in our national ethos so that “We develop our nation to greater heights”.
