Edo Gubernatorial Election: Labour Party Candidate Akpata Raises Alarm Over Concerning Feedback
Benin City, Edo State — Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate, has raised concerns about disturbing reports from across the state following his casting of votes in the Edo gubernatorial election on September 21.
After voting, Akpata informed reporters that he and his team have been receiving troubling feedback from all 18 local government areas.
“We are getting some concerning feedback from across the state, but I’m not the kind of person that will make any statement until I verify,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of observing the electoral process closely before issuing any official remarks.
The Labour Party had earlier responded to recent rumors suggesting that Akpata had stepped down in favor of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Asue Ighodalo. LP publicity secretary Sam Uroupa firmly stated that Akpata remains in the race, dismissing the rumors as unfounded.
Zekeri Idris, the chairman of Akpata’s media team, urged the public to disregard the false claims, reaffirming the party’s commitment to the election.
As the situation unfolds, Akpata and his team continue to monitor the electoral process to ensure integrity and transparency throughout the voting period.
