Onuesoke blasts Nyako over ‘genocide memo’
Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship aspirant in 2007 general elections, Chief Sunny Onuesoke, has slammed Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State for accusing President Goodluck Jonathan of perpetrating genocide against the North in his fight against Boko Haram.
Nyako had, in a memo entitled Ongoing Full-Fledged Genocide in Northern Nigeria, which he sent to the Northern States Governors Forum on April 16, accused the Federal Government of aiding terrorism and high-profile killings in the North-East.
Onuesoke, who is the Country Director of Network for Good Governance, N4GG, described Nyako’s memo as full of lies, deceit and capable of setting one part of the country against another.
He noted that it was disheartening that Nyako, who is a sitting governor, a person that is supposed to be a role model and a leader, was sounding a war drum and creating confusion by feeding the masses lies.
Onuesoke, aide to Delta State Governor on Special Project, said that it was an insult for a serving governor to insult a sitting President.
He said: “It was never heard of in the history of United Kingdom and United States of America, the countries we intend to look like and copy.”
