CP Samuel Etaifo Erale Assumes Duty As 25th Commissioner Of Police In Delta State

CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, psc, mnips, has assumed duty as the 25th Commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command.

Delta State Command made available to Reformeronline in Asaba, he said that the new Commissioner
succeeds CP Yemi John Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips.

According to the statement, “CP Samuel Etaifo Erale, psc, mnips was born on 2nd March 1968 at Pedro Police Barracks, Shomolu, Mainland, Lagos State. He hails from Owan East LGA, Edo State. He holds a BSc (HONS) in Political Science from the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1992).

“CP Erale was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force in the year 1994 as a member of Course 18 Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police. His career has taken him through a wide range of operational, administrative and command responsibilities, providing him with extensive experience across different areas of policing.

“His early years of service took him to Kogi State Command, where he officially started his police career. His professional journey also extended beyond the shores of Nigeria when he served as part of the Nigeria Police Force keeping contingents on a United Nations Mission in Kosovo (2000), further broadening his exposure to international policing and peace-support operations.”

SP Edafe added that the Commissioner’s career trajectory includes significant service at the Office of the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he worked in the Promotions Section at different ranks, including as a Chief Superintendent of Police and subsequently as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.

SP Edafe said that the new Commissioner later served at the Special Investigation Unit, Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja. and in other various commands and formations, which include Ekiti State, Akwa-Ibom State, Bayelsa State Police Command, Rivers State Police Command, Osun State, Kogi State, Zone 7 Headquarters Abuja and Force Headquarters Abuja.

SP Edafe further added that some of his postings include, Personal Assistant to Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, Personal Assistant TO AIG Zone 7 Abuja, Police Mobile Force Provost (2004-2008), Squadron Commander Mopol 33, Ekiti State (2008-2013), CSP Admin, Osun State Police Command, CSP Promotion, office of the Force Secretary, Force Headquarters, Abuja, Squadron Commander Mopol 26, Akwa Ibom (2015-2016), FCID, ABUJA, AC operations Bayelsa State Police Command, AC Operations Ekiti state Police Command, Squadron Commander Mopol 33, Ekiti State (2019-2022), ACP Promotion, Office of the Force Secretary, Force headquarters Abuja, DC Admin River State Police Command (2022-2026), DC Community Safety and Crime Prevention, Force Headquarters Abuja where he served until his promotion to the enviable rank of a Commissioner of Police.

SP Edafe spoke further, “CP Samuel spent fourteen years of his Police career in the Police Mobile Force (PMF), during which he was Squadron Commander for nine years. His extensive experience in tactical operations led to his deployment as the CP Elections in the recently concluded off-cycle elections in Osun State, which was significantly one of the most peaceful and successful elections in recent times. While he was carrying out this very important National Assignment, he was posted as the 25th Commissioner of Police, Delta State, in the month of August 2026.”

SP Edafe further disclosed that the new Commissioner is a member of some professional bodies that includes International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and National Institute of Police Studies 2001 (MNIPS).

The Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command added that the new Commissioner attended various courses amongst which were Advanced Detective Course 1999, Small Arms and Explosives course at International Law Enforcement Academy at Gaborone, Botswana 2005, Tactical Leadership and Command Course, Police Staff College Jos 2014, Peace Support course, National Defence College 2015, Strategic and Senior Command Course 2021, MOPOL Training School Ila-Orangun 2008, MOPOL Training School Ila-Orangun-Osun 2009, MOPOL Training School Ila-Orangun-Osun 2011, MOPOL Training School Ende Hill-Nasarawa 2020.

SP Edafe spoke further, “a tested and trusted operational Commander, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale has, over the years, distinguished himself as a seasoned police officer whose career has been defined by professionalism, discipline, experience, commitment to duty, operational leadership, personnel management and the maintenance of public safety and security.

“Through these diverse appointments, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale has acquired considerable experience spanning operations, administration, criminal investigation, personnel management, community safety and international policing.

“Beyond the demands of policing, CP Samuel Etaifo Erale is happily married and blessed with children. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing badminton and brisk walking.
