2027: Mulade Flags Off Campaign, Pledges ‘Quality Representation’ for Warri Federal Constituency

Chief Comrade Mulade B. Sheriff, PhD, has formally flagged off his campaign for the Warri Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, promising to provide quality representation and attract greater federal attention to the constituency if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Mulade, the National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate, formally unveiled his campaign on Thursday at Tobiz Event Centre, Warri, where he also engaged political stakeholders and supporters drawn from the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities.

The flag-off marked the commencement of his campaign ahead of the 2027 elections, with the candidate presenting his aspiration as a platform for peace, development, employment creation and inclusive representation.

Addressing the gathering, Mulade said his decision to contest was informed by what he described as the long-standing developmental and representational challenges confronting Warri Federal Constituency despite its enormous contribution to Nigeria’s economy.

He pledged to use constructive advocacy and stakeholder engagement to attract federal projects and interventions capable of opening up economic opportunities for residents, particularly youths and women.

“If elected in 2027 into the House of Representatives, Warri City and its environs would be given the deserved special attention through constructive advocacy and engagement with all relevant stakeholders,” he said.

Mulade specifically pledged to advocate the resuscitation of the Burutu, Warri, Koko and Sapele seaports, as well as the development of the Warri Industrial Park.

He also promised to pursue empowerment and employment opportunities through agriculture, fisheries and skills acquisition programmes.

The candidate said the election should be about capacity, competence and the ability to represent the people effectively, rather than ethnic considerations.

He appealed to the Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo communities to work together, stressing that unity among the three ethnic groups was essential to achieving meaningful development in the constituency.

“We cannot continue to fight ourselves, we cannot continue to deprive ourselves, we cannot continue to malign ourselves,” he said.

Mulade said his background in peacebuilding, environmental advocacy and community leadership would strengthen his capacity to represent the constituency.

He is the National Coordinator of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), a non-governmental organisation, and the National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Council (INC).

He described himself as the “Light of Hope” for Warri Federal Constituency and assured supporters that his campaign would be based on an inclusive approach that would give every ethnic group and community a sense of belonging.

“I am not here for a political funfair to stand in the gap, but I am here to close the gap through constructive advocacy and inclusive approach,” he said.

The campaign flag-off featured cultural displays by Ijaw, Itsekiri and Urhobo cultural troupes, underscoring Mulade’s call for unity among the three major ethnic groups in the constituency.

Among dignitaries and stakeholders present were Hon. Kingsley Abugewa, former chairmen of Uvwie Local Government Area and other political stakeholders and supporters.

Mulade, who is the Ibe-Sorimowei of Ancient Oil-rich Gbaramatu Kingdom in Warri South-West Local Government Area, urged the people of Warri Federal Constituency to support his bid for what he described as a new era of people-oriented and development-focused representation.

He urged the people of Warri Federal Constituency to arm themselves with their PVCs stressing that its the only way they can exercise their franchise in the 2027 election.
