Peace in Warri More Important Than My Personal Ambition — Mulade

By Francis Sadhere, Delta
Renowned peace ambassador and development advocate, Comrade Sheriff Mulade, PhD, has declared that the peace and stability of Warri and its environs are far more important than his personal political ambition.
Mulade made the assertion while expressing concern over the rising tension and divisive rhetoric that have trailed recent political developments in the area. He cautioned against the growing trend of ethnic sentiment, blackmail, and inflammatory statements capable of undermining the longstanding relationship among the various ethnic groups in Warri Federal Constituency.
According to him, no political contest or personal aspiration should be allowed to threaten the peace and unity that residents have worked hard to sustain over the years.
“Peace in Warri and its environs is more important than my personal ambition,” he stated, emphasizing the need for all stakeholders, supporters, and residents to place the collective interest of the region above individual or political considerations.
The Ibe-Sorimowei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom commended the Itsekiri, Ijaw, Urhobo, and other residents of Warri Federal Constituency for maintaining restraint and promoting peaceful coexistence despite provocative actions and statements from some quarters.
He urged the people to remain committed to unity, mutual respect, and understanding, stressing that sustainable development can only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
Mulade further noted that Warri, as the commercial nerve centre of Delta State, requires stability to attract investment, create jobs for youths, and facilitate meaningful development across communities.
He also called on residents to support ongoing efforts aimed at fostering peace and complementing the developmental initiatives of the Delta State Government.
Reiterating his commitment to the progress of the area, Mulade appealed to all residents to reject ethnic bias and hatred and instead embrace dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful coexistence.
He maintained that no meaningful development can be achieved in an environment characterized by conflict and division, adding that the future prosperity of Warri depends on the ability of its people to live and work together in peace.
