Former Governor of Edo State, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor, has extolled the virtues of former Deputy Governor, Rev. (Dr) Peter Obadan, describing him as a humble, prayerful, and hardworking man whose life has been marked by service to God and humanity.
Prof. Osunbor made the remarks while chairing the golden jubilee marriage anniversary of Rev. Obadan and his wife, Her Excellency, Gloria E. Obadan, held recently in Benin City.
He recalled their early years as students of Anglican Grammar School, Ujolen, Edo State, between 1964 and 1968, where he first encountered the celebrant. According to him, Obadan’s brilliance, humility, and devotion to prayer were evident even in his youth, qualities that later defined his political and personal life.
“I was not surprised when Dr. Obadan became Deputy Governor under Chief John Odigie-Oyegun. Till today, he remains hardworking and respectful to both young and old,” Osunbor stated, while also commending Mrs. Gloria Obadan for her steadfast support in their marriage.
The occasion drew a distinguished gathering of eminent Edo sons and daughters, including former Deputy Governors Asiwaju Mike Ogiadhome and Dr. Pius Egberamen Odubu, as well as elder statesman and former Secretary to the Edo State Government, Sir Clement Alile.
Archbishop Joseph Ojo officiated the renewal of marital vows, while Bishop Felix Omobude led the affirmation service. The Anglican Bishop of Sabongidda-Ora Diocese, Rt. Revd. Augustine Ohilebo, alongside Hon. Agharese Idubor and other dignitaries, also graced the colourful ceremony.
The event highlighted not only the enduring love story of Rev. and Mrs. Obadan but also the strong bond of unity among alumni of Anglican Grammar School, Ujolen, a community Osunbor urged to remain united.
