The military high Command has given reason why they invaded Okuama Community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State again, insisting that they would not stop until they recover all the lost equipment and arms occasioned by the gruesome murder of 17 security personnel by alleged youths of community.

Maj.-Gen. Jamal Abdussalam
GOC, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, stated the army position in Warri, Tuesday, as the special guest of honour at the inauguration of the remodelled and renovated transit accommodation for soldiers at the 3 Battalion, Nigerian Army, Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the state.

According to him, “we will not rest. The Nigerian Army will continue to conduct operations to recover the military equipment and arms carted away in the Okuama community. We will not rest”.

The GOC said, “We remember with sadness the event of March 14, 2024, in the Okuama community where our troops were brutality murdered’.

The fully furnished project comprising a total of 68 rooms, 18 toilets and bathrooms and three central kitchens facilities and capable of accommodating 140 military men inside the barracks, was remodelled, renovated and donated by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, TSSNL, a private pipeline surveillance outfit owned by Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo.

Maj.Gen Abdussalam who noted that the army transit accommodation would address the critical needs of the troops, stated that the project would go a long way in lifting the spirit of the personnel and commended the management of TSSNL for the laudable project which he said “would benefit the unit, brigade and, by extension, the Nigerian Army.”

He said the initiative had demonstrated the importance and power of quality leadership and unity of purpose in the attainment of big goals, noting that, “the transit accommodation represents a remarkable milestone as it addresses the critical needs of our troops and highlights the impact of corporate social responsibilities in the spirit of joint effort.

“I am aware of the enormous resources Tantita committed to the project. It shows that our bond transcends operational synergy in the field”, the GOC further revealed.

The Executive Director of Operations, Technical of the TSSNL, Captain Warriedi Enisuoh, on his part revealed that the task for the company to successfully protect the nation critical assets and pipelines against crude oil theft would not have been easy without the support of the military as they are not allowed to bear arms as a private firm.

“Over time, a lot of them have sacrificed their lives while trying to make sure we live. This project is a holding facility for troops on transfer, to make them feel relaxed and comfortable”, he remarked.
