BY OMOS OYINBODE, ASABA
Delta North Senatorial aspirant under the platform of the Accord Party, Hon. Victor Ochei, has said that effective representation geared towards delivering dividends of democracy to the people was his driving force behind his ambition for the National Assembly.
Ochei, who was former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, told journalists that Delta North deserves the best and a proactive voice in the upper Chamber of the National Assembly, just as he maintained that his quest for the seat was to serve the people of the area and not for personal aggrandizement.
Ochei, who served in the State House of Assembly since 2003, believed that his experience and dexterity would adequately and positively harnessed to redefine effective representation by bringing dividends of democracy to the people
The former governorship aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) but lost to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, explained that he had full grasp of the needs and aspirations of the area and that the senator’s office being higher than that of the state assembly, would offer him more opportunity to not only to consolidate on the gains of his stewardship at the house but also to address the people’s needs from the federal axis.
On his defection from the PDP to the Accord Party, Ochei said his decision was for the overall interest of the people as it would provide him a platform to translate his plans for the socio-political and economic transformation of the zone.
He said his defection has not affected his philosophy of people-oriented representation which he would continue to demonstrate the more even in Accord Party.
He called on the people of Delta North to rally round his ambition by voting for him during the elections.
