The raging fire at the Delta State Independent Power Project (IPP) in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state has been put out.

Our correspondent gathered that the wild fire that started at about 4:00pm on Monday, January 5, 2015 was finally contained, but not after it had eaten up essential equipment at the project site.

The razed equipment according to our investigation had no insurance cover just as workers at the IPP had been without pay for months.

The flames, however, spared the two turbines, two generators, while one out of the skinds was partially affected.

The cause of the fire had not been ascertained, but reliable sources did not rule out sabotage.

National Reformer Newspaper gathered that top government officials are expected to visit the site today.
