UKWUANI LGA BOSS COMMENDS FOUNDING FATHERS OF NIGERIA

The Executive Chairman, Ukwuani Local Government, Hon Barr. (Mrs) Benedicta Ndudi Osakunih-Izuegbu has commended the founding fathers of Nigeria whose sacrifices and dogged fight had freed Nigerians from all manners of shackle,servitude and colonialism.

This commendation came during her address at the 55th Independence Anniversary Celebration which took place at the Obiaruku Grammar School playground in the administrative headquarters of the local government.

Hon Osakunih-Izuegbu noted that “the past mistakes of the leaders in building the Nigeria state of our dreams had been greeted with obstacles which have helped to strengthen Nigerians resolve to work harder in protecting the democratic structure that has lasted for more than sixteen years.

“The phenomenal and enduring change from military to constitutional democratic government calls for total celebration”. She added that not only had Nigeria earned its pride in the international community  but has also made the country a center of attraction to foreign investors.

The chairman paid glowing tribute to the media, religious and traditional authorities for being watchdogs of the Nigeria political system; they have impacted positively on the system and differently applied useful measures and ensured stability in the country’s democratic rule and development over the years, she stated.

Hon Osakunih-Izuegbu also reiterated her administrations’ resolve in tackling the multifaceted challenges of the local government while calling on the good people of Ukwuani local government for their support and co-operations towardfinding lasting solutions to the challenges.

The council bossfurther enjoined all to be peaceful, law abiding and security conscious adding that nothing good thrives in an atmosphere of acrimony and rancour. She therefore, cautioned the youths to shun cultism, bickering, divisiveness and other social vices.

She also called on parents to enlighten their children on the importance of virtues and characterthat guarantees good and successful life.

Highlights of the event was march past by schools, voluntary organizations, paramilitary groups and cultural dance by the schools and the cutting of the 55th Independence Anniversary cake by the chairman and dignitaries present.
