Media, Major Stakeholder In Niger Delta Development – Delta Monarch

The media is a major stakeholder contributing maximally towards the overall development of the Niger Delta region.
This was disclosed by Luke Kalanama VIII, Pere of Akugbene-Mein Kingdom, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta at unveiling of The Niger Delta Media House in Ogunu, Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, he said that the importance of the Media towards the advancement in the region cannot be over emphasized.

Outfit.
The royal father who is also the 1st Vice Chairman of the Delta State Traditional Rulers Council noted that
Gbaramatu Voice Newspaper which started few years ago had blossomed over time.
According to him, “you started some years ago and today, we are opening this magnificent edifice. I know that this is just the beginning.
“We must tell our stories and we can only do that when we have our own brand.
“There is no way a Yoruba or Hausa man will tell our story like we that owned our story.
“We, the owner of the story will tell it to the outside world to know that we are the ones laying the golden egg.
“Do not forget that the media space is what we actually need to propagate our desires, feelings and aspirations of the Niger Delta.
“So, it is our prayers that your journey that has just started would blossom,” he said.
The king expressed his appreciation to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo for his contributions to the development of the Niger Delta region.
The monarch also commended Comr. Sheriff Mulade, National Coordinator, Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) for his supportive roles to the media industry.
Earlier in his welcome address, Mr Jacob Abai, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Gbaramatu Voice said that the project was a great milestone in the history of the media outfit.
According to Mr. Abai, “this facility will serve as a hub for media excellence, housing radio and television stations as well as a media training centre
“It will also accommodate a live studio, newsroom, library, research centre, administrative offices and others,” he said.
Mr. Abai disclosed that the facility was designed to advance the organisation”s mission of promoting quality media and cultural representation in the Niger Delta.
Highlight of the event was the cutting of tape to mark the official commissioning of the edifice.
