Three students emerge winners in ‘Mordi Quiz Competition

Three senior secondary school students, Kachikwu Babundo Charles, Kenneth Genevieve and Osadebamwen Aisosa have emerged first to third place winners in the 2015 Blessing Ify Mordi Quiz Competition cliching the grand prizes.

The students emerged triumphant in the second annual quiz competition for secondary school students at Agadagidi Civic Centre in Umunede, Ika North Local Government Area of Delta State recently.

At the end of the breath taking event which featured students from various secondary schools across Ika North and Ika South Local Government Areas of the state, Kachikwu Babundo Charles, an SS3 of Command Secondary School Mbiri clinched the first prize, a computer set while Kenneth Genevieve, an SS1 student of Mary Mount College, Agbor won 2nd prize of a chest refrigerator. The third prize winner, an SS3 student of Command Secondary School, Mbiri, Osadebamwen Aisosa went home with a generating set with other students getting sundry prizes.

Speaking at the event, the organizer, Beauty Queen, Blessing Ify Mordi who is also the Director of the Blessing Ify Mordi Foundation said the quiz competition was included to the programmes of the foundation after observing that the education standard in Nigeria is dropping due to poor reading culture of students. According to her, “the competition is all about reviving the decaying reading culture among students.”

Mordi, a Mechanical Engineering graduate who has bagged several titles in the beauty pageantry including Miss Style Catwalk Queen Nigeria 2012/2013, Miss New Nigeria World South South Ambassador and Nigerian Goodwill Ambassador said secondary school students between the ages of thirteen and seventeen years were selected from various secondary schools to partake in the competition.

Congratulating the winners for their well deserved prizes, Mordi however called on good spirited Nigerians to key into the Blessing Ify Mordi Foundation projects and touch the lives of young people through its numerous social, educative and scholarship programmes.
