How to curb menace of cultism in society – Shola Mese
By Francis Sadhere, Warri
Shola Mese, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Shola Mese Foundation on Thursday, asked the Federal Government to provide jobs for Nigerian youths, if they want to curb the menace of cultism in the society.
Mese said this in Warri when the Executive and members of the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, Ogborikoko branch, made him their patron.
Mese, who is also a security expert, specifically said, during the brief ceremony, that youths who have decided to renounce cultism in the society must be assisted to get skills that will enable them put food on their table.
He added that several u youths join cult groups because of several reasons, stressing that some of them were promised job security.
Mese said government at all levels must help such ones to be meaningfully engaged if they don’t want them to go back to their former lives.
“The welfare of those who have renounced their membership of any cult group must be looked into seriously.
“If the government of the day wants peace to reign in the society, they must provide jobs for the youth because most of these youths don’t know the dangers associated with cultism.
“Some of these youths join cult groups because of some benefits that they were promised. So if any of them decides to renounce his membership, the government must be able to protect him from going back to cultism.
“Of course we know that if he decided to renounce his membership of any cult group, then he must have something to fall back to. If not he will be forced to go back,” Mese said.
He promised the Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps that he will assisted them in their efforts to make the society free from cult activities.
Earlier, Mr Lucky Evumefefe, Commander, Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps, Ugborikoko branch, Uvwie Local Government Area, Delta State, said they decided to make Shola Mese there Patron because he has been helping so many youths in the community come out of cultism.
