EDORON ASSURES CONGOS OF EFFECTIVE COLLABORATION

The 6th Assembly of the Edo State house of Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Victor Edoron has assured the conference of Non – government organization CONGOS Edo State Chapter of their readiness to collaborate with the organization to achieved her objective goals.
Speaker Edoror handle down this in his office when the aforementioned organization payed him a courtesy visit. He stated he was pleased to receive them because according to him he was part and of them due to the continuous struggle he had stood for adding that though his emergency as the speaker, EDHA was by divine providence.
He reiterates that the 6th Assembly under his leadership will be proactive to fully enact law and pass bills that will further better the lives of Edo people. While suing for the body cooperation in the collaboration, he stated that the disability bill has got its first reading and going for its second reading with a view to finally passed the bill to law.
Edoror who pointed out that modalities are being put in place to ensure that the system work in Edo State as he was quick to applaud the Comrade Governor, Adams Oshiomhole that in the face of the decline Economy, Edo is not owing any worker a dine adding that as for the Edo, YES workers that was recently disengaged, that they will soon be absolve into the system appropriately.
The speaker however assured CONGOs that the house is looking into their complains and doing the needful with a view to addressing them adequately while promising them of a better working relationship and to grace their fourth coming fifth anniversary programme in September.
Earlier, the president of CONGOs,Comrade Obasanmi Jude said they were in his offices to felicitate with him on his elevation as the speaker, EDHA and to intimate him of the body activities. He said the conference visions remains to establish a state in which the civil society will play his primary role of driving development in partnership with the private and public section adding that as part of their strategic play for 2015 – 2017 is to present a non – state agenda and to solicit for greater collaboration.
Comrade Obasanmi Said the body has in the last five years engaged in the protection of human rights, promotion of good health practice, rehabilitation of internally displaced persons, election monitoring/votes education, policies advocacy amongst others. While agreeing to the fact that though they have enjoyed some attention from government in terms suggestions and constructive critism of government policies and actions, He however applied that the house should look into some of their pressing issue like the passage of the bills to establish the disability commission in Edo state, to investigate why most industries that were hitherto major source of revenue in the state are no longer working, e.g. Bendel Breweries, Bendel feed and flour mills, Edo line, Ehor fruit plant and a host of others and to reemphasize the corporate social responsibilities of MNC and even local industries, to request for a periodic update by the various security operatives, reviewing the existing policies on taxation and for government to initiate a pool to support the activities f NGOs like the USAID, DFID amongst others.
Obasanmi emphatically emphasized that the conference is much more prepare now than ever before to partner with likeable mind like the house of Assembly in such a way as to enable the people reap the full benefits of good governance and to have programs and projects that will be sustainable that will promote the interest of Edolite and in so doing they will be writing their names on gold.
