EDO INEC REC THANKFUL, URGED NASS MEMBERS TO KEEP PROMISE

The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, Edo State, Mr. Mike Igini has commended Edo people for their massive support during the pro and cons of the 2015 general elections.
The commendation was disclosed in his office during the award of Certificate issued to members of the National Assembly elect in Benin City.
The INEC REC, Mr. Igini told newsmen that he was grateful to all for their massive support particularly the various political platform for their genuine cooperation during and after the election asserting that it was imperative they did as the need for free, fair and credible elections achieved.
According to him, “Democracy is a journey it is not a final product in geographical society but it grows to the growths out affiliation of time. Ours is a fledging one; all that it requires is a strong ethical value to support electoral process. So that at every periodic elections, people will feel at the centre of our democracy and the voice of the people should always speak louder than the narrow interest of the individuals. Now that you have all been elected, to represent the people it is our hope and the hope of the people that they will not only have representatives but maximum representation in all areas. So that, your promises will not be, words of disappointment to the people.
For us as a commission, we have done our job. Set time and again a process very complex, a word with so many people there’s no doubt that few observations have been made in which people will also want to use to avenue of the tribunal. Any observed challenge we can say from our corner when we certify any elected member or process even though as human beings, we are not perfect, the areas of imperfections is attributable to evidence or men having regional number of persons in the exercise will not be enough.
On behalf of the national chairman and the entire staff of INEC we want to congratulate you and say thank you on the journey you have embarked that without the cooperation of all of us we would not havebeen where we are so we thank all of you even when we have course to disagree and decision thank you and congratulations.
However, the certificate award ceremony witnessed a Major Tong on the chin as only two out of the three senatorial members elected and four out of the nine elected members of the lower house were present.
Speaking shortly after the presenter of certificates to our correspondent, the Oredo Federal Constituency House of Assembly representative and the Edo South Senatorial district, Engineer Omoregie February 7, 2002 Ogbiedi-Ihama and Pharmacy Matthew Urhoghide thanked all for their support they re-echoed their determination to effectively represents the people of their constituencies respectively.
Ogbeide-Ihama said, “I wonder why people are celebrating. For me, work have just began and am very eager to go back to work and discharge my duties to the people I represent”.
