The shop that was burgled

Suspected thieves on Sunday night attacked Oghior Modern Market in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State and burgled a shop owned by a female Journalist, Success Okuchemiya.

Okuchemiya told journalists that her shop and one other were the only shops robbed at the newly built private modern market.

She said that the incident appears like a targeted attack as a mobile phone worth one hundred thousand naira was stolen from the shop.

The Journalist cum businesswoman expressed shock over how the suspected thieves gained access into the market that’s being guarded by four mobile policemen.

Success, who worked with South-South Magazine as assistant editor, said that the thieves burgled her shop through the ceiling and stole the mobile phone from the point (manhole) at which they gained access.

While noting that she and other traders pay one thousand naira security fees monthly, she insisted that the Security Operatives on guard duty must be held responsible for any damages and losses suffered by traders as a result of the ugly incident.

She noted that she drew the attention of the policemen on guard duty as well as the market master who came to the scene of the incident but there was no positive response from them as one of them claimed the robbers came through the back of the said market.

According to her, the security operatives are trying to absolve themselves of complicity or any wrongdoing in the matter.

Success who tendered photographs of her shop and manhole through which the thieves burgled her shop noted that she will incident the matter at the Ovwian/Aladja Police Station.
