Chief Sam Odjoji, (JP), President, Association of Justices of Peace, Delta State has appealed for sustainable peace in Delta State in particular and Nigeria in general to give room for overall development and meaningful advancement.
According to a statement in commemoration of International Day of Peace on behalf of members of the Association, Sir Odjoji said that the day celebrated annually on September 21 reminds us of the need to embrace peace in all areas of life.
Sir Odjoji disclosed that the theme of 2024 International Day of Peace, “Cultivating a Culture of Peace” is apt, adding that there can be no meaningful development in a chaotic environment.
According to Sir Odjoji, “Peace is the absence of war, violence or conflict among persons, communities/towns or countries. Peace is a state of calmness or quietness or a state of harmony and friendship”
The President of Delta state chapter of the Association of Justices of Peace spoke further, “wars begin in the minds of men. So, also, in their minds, peace is initiated. Peace, love and friendship brings about meaningful development while wars or conflicts brings about hatred and wanton destruction of valuable lives and properties.”
Chief Odjoji then urged all to embrace peace at homes, communities in particular and the world in general with a view to attain a peaceful atmosphere worldwide that would give room to overall development and advancement worldwide.
He added, “lets remain peaceful, lets co-exist peacefully, preach peace wherever you find yourself as this would be to the overall benefit of all because the results of war or conflict are very unpalatable.”
Sir Odjoji added, “Iam therefore using this opportunity to call on Deltans and Nigerians to always promote peace, practice peace, speak peace and think peace where there is hatred, we would be better for it. Delta State, Nigeria and the whole world would advance tremendously.”
