A leader in APC
In a demonstration of total acceptance of the peace accord facilitated through the efforts of Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, our amiable Governor which culminated in the historic April 12, 2026 Resolution, leaders of Ward 8 met on 28 May, to once again deliberate and work together as one family after over three years of political differences within the Ward and the Local Government.
The meeting marked a significant breakthrough, as leaders unanimously resolved to move forward in unity, harmony, and mutual understanding. It was agreed that the era of division is behind us, and that Ward 8 must now focus on collective progress and the advancement of our great party, the APC.

The meeting was presided over by the Local Government APC Party Chairman, Mr. Clement Okorodide who is also a member of Ward 8.
In his remarks, he expressed profound gratitude to all leaders present, noting that despite receiving less than six hours’ notice, the turnout was impressive, he was particularly touched by the presence of a leader Dr. Henry Ofa who travelled from the state capital, Asaba to attend the meeting.
The Chairman stated that the honour and privilege entrusted to him would never be taken for granted. He pledged to serve as a servant-leader, guiding the party at the local government level with the fear of God, while urging all leaders to remain steadfast, avoid complacency, and work diligently to galvanize support for the party ahead of future elections.
Mr. Okorodide further expressed appreciation to the Governor, His Excellency Oborevwori, Chief James Ibori, former Governor of Delta State, former federal representatives—both present and past, Hon. Mrs. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, Hon. Halims Agoda, Hon. Ben Rollands Igbakpa and all party leaders of Ethiope West Local Government whose efforts made the renewed unity possible and led to the convening of the historic leaders’ meeting after three years.
All leaders present took turns to speak and unanimously affirmed that the April 12 Resolution remains binding.
As loyal party members who respect and obey party leadership, Ward 8 leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the intent, purpose, and spirit of the accord reached by party leaders.
The gathering was memorable, as leaders exchanged pleasantries and recalled fond memories of working together. It was also noted with pride that a former Governor hails from Ward 8, providing even greater reason for members to work tirelessly to deliver overwhelming electoral support for the party.

In this regard, reference was made to the phrase “Bush Votes,” as earlier used by Leader Amori during the April 12 gathering, emphasizing the need for every community and polling unit to contribute maximally to the party’s success., so as to get the “Bush Votes “as expressed.
The high point of the meeting was the unanimous vote of confidence passed on President Bola Tinubu, Rt. Hon. Oborevwori and Hon. Mrs. Ibori-Suen.
Although our Representative now plays politics from her ancestral village, leaders acknowledged her long-standing association and continued connection to Ward 8 describing her as a de facto member of the ward.
The meeting therefore reaffirmed its support for her, and her continued contributions to the growth and development of the party.
The meeting also unanimously endorsed the candidature of the President, the Governor, Member of the House of Representatives, and all other party candidates.

Leaders resolved to mobilize support and votes for all party candidates in future elections.
It was further agreed that a general ward meeting would be convened soon. The hosting of leaders’ meetings will henceforth be rotational, expanded, and held regularly to ensure adequate preparation for the significant electoral activities ahead.
Leaders expressed confidence that Ward 8, which has the highest number of units in the local government owing to its population strength, will deliver electoral results that truly reflect its numerical advantage and political importance.
The meeting stands as a testament to the success of the April 12 Resolution and the grace of God, who has made it possible for Ward 8 leaders to reunite after three years of political differences.

It is our hope that other wards will embrace the spirit and provisions of the April 12 Accord fully and without exception, for the continued unity and progress of our party.
