Agbateyiniro Proposes Farm Estates In Warri South Communities

Plans are at advanced stage to establish Farm Estates in communities in Warri South Local Government Area with a view to boost food production as well as create job opportunities to people with in the value chain in the area.
This was disclosed by Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, Chairman, Warri South Local Government Area while speaking at a Media parley to mark his 100 Days in office, he said that his administration has already set up a Committee to engage with all stakeholders and community leaders, stressing that the project would commence soon.
The Warri South Council boss further disclosed that various farm produce harvested from the proposed farm village would be sold at subsidized prices to the people in the Council area.
Hon. Agbateyiniro said that his administration is out to give Warri a facelift with tha aim of making the once bubbling oil city regain its lost glory.
Hon. Agbateyiniro also unveiled ambitious plans to construct an island within the City, drawing inspiration from Lagos’s Banana Island adding that the proposal will be pursued as a Public/Private Partnership(PPP) venture.
According to Hon. Agbateyiniro, “let everybody say it is not possible while we work to make it a reality. We have outlined plans to submit a relevant Bill to the Legislative Arm of the Council to come up with a Bye Law to facilitate the project.”
In addition to the Island initiative, Hon. Agbateyiniro highlighted various human capital development, infrastructural and environmental sanitation projects undertaken in his first 100 days.
He listed them to include the construction of Modern Abattoir and Standard Cold Room in Pessu Market, Renovation of the abandoned Omadino/Obodo Road, Renovation of burnt Nupe Street Stores in Igbudu Market, Operation No Port Holes In Streets of Warri, N10 million Revolving Loan Scheme each to the five major markets in Warri totaling N50 million to be administered by the Market Associations among others targeted at People Living With Disability (PLWD), the elderly as well as numerous job opportunities for the youths.
On security, he said that the Council is set for the implementation and enforcement of the Delta State Government’s Law on mandatory installation of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) in public places like worship centres, schools, hotels etc throughout Warri South Local Government Area.
He announced the launch of the “Operation Keep Warri South Clean” program, which will commence in the first week of November.
Contributions from various officials, including the Vice Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Supervisory Councillors who detailed their Departments’ achievements over the past 100 Days.
