WARRI, Delta State — The National Democratic Party (NDP) candidate for Warri Federal Constituency, Chief Comrade Mulade B. Sheriff, PhD, has paid a courtesy visit to the Olu of Warri, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, as part of efforts to deepen consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mulade, the Ibe-Serimowei of Gbaramatu Kingdom, used the visit to present his political ambition to the monarch and seek his royal blessing for his bid to represent Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Speaking at the palace, Mulade said his aspiration was founded on the need for effective representation, peace and inclusive development rather than personal ambition.
He said his “Mandate to Serve 2027 – The Light of Hope” campaign would focus on economic empowerment, employment opportunities, youth and women development, skills acquisition and improved representation for the constituents.
According to him, the constituency belongs to all its constituent ethnic nationalities, stressing that his ambition was not anchored on ethnic considerations.
Mulade said he was committed to promoting unity among the Itsekiri, Ijaw and Urhobo communities, adding that sustainable development could only be achieved through cooperation and peaceful coexistence.
In his response, the Olu of Warri commended Mulade for what he described as his long-standing involvement in peacebuilding, environmental advocacy and community development.
The monarch urged the aspirant to conduct his campaign peacefully and focus on issues that directly affect the people, particularly youths, women and the elderly.
Ogiame Atuwatse III also emphasized the importance of unity among the various ethnic groups that make up Warri, stressing that the development of the federal constituency requires collective effort and purposeful leadership.
He subsequently offered prayers and royal blessings for Mulade’s political journey.
Speaking after the palace visit, Mulade described the encounter as significant, saying the blessing had strengthened his resolve to pursue his political ambition.
He said seeking the blessing of the Olu was important to him as a son of the Warri area, adding that the monarch’s counsel would guide his approach to the campaign.
Mulade, who is also identified as a United Nations Peace Ambassador and development advocate, said he would continue to promote dialogue and cooperation among the three major ethnic groups in the constituency.
The visit comes as political activities intensify across Warri Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 elections, with aspirants stepping up consultations with traditional institutions, community leaders and other stakeholders.
