2027: Ukoko R’ Ivie R’ Urhobo Adopts Oborevwori Sole Urhobo Nation Governorship Candidate

Ukoko R’ Ivie R’ Urhobo (Forum of Urhobo Traditional Rulers) has adopted Rt. Hon. Sheriff F. O. Oborevwori, Governor of Delta State and Governorship candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as sole candidate of Urhobo Nation for the 2027 Governorship election.

This was disclosed at the end of their meeting in the Palace of the Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom Effurun convened to address pressing issues impacting on political stability ahead of the 2027 Governorship election.

Reading from a statement signed by HRM Dr. Emmanuel E. Sideso, Abe 1 JP, Ovie of Uvwie Kingdom and HRM Dr. Richard Oghenevwogaga E. Okorefe 1, Ovie of Agbarha-Otor Kingdom, Chairman and Secretary respectively of the Ukoko R’ Ivie R’ Urhobo, HRM Dr. Monday Obukohwo Whiskey, Spokesman of the Forum said that their decision is an attempt to stem the current rising political tension, hostility and political thuggery across Urhobo land.

According to the Forum, “while we, as Traditional Rulers, remain strictly apolitical, we cannot stay silent when political development threaten the security, well-being and social harmony of our people.

“Recently, we observed a concerning rise in political tension, hostility and political thuggery across Urhobo land. As royal fathers, we cannot sit back and watch our sons and daughters tear themselves apart over political ambitions. Politics should be a peaceful civic engagement, not a do-or-die affair”

The Ukoko R’ Ivie R’ Urhobo then declared that the unity of Urhobo Nation is sacrosanct and non negotiable adding that to de-escalate the rising political tensions and protect Urhobo Nation collective interest, they have advised all Urhobo sons contesting the 2027 Governorship Election to align.

The Forum added, “we have advised all our sons contesting the 2027 Governorship Election to align with the Forum,’s counsel: to set aside their individual ambition at this time and rally behind our son, the incumbent Gorvernor.

“The decision of the Forum is that we, the Traditional Rulers of Urhobo Nation have adopted the Executive Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Chief Sheriff Francis Orhovwedor Oborevwori as the sole candidate of Urhobo Nation for the 2027 Governorship Election for his unprecedented development across Delta State. We therefore call on all sons and daughters of Urhobo Nation to vote enmass for him.”

Responding to a question, HRM Whiskey gave three instances/ incidents of recent political tensions and thuggery across Urhobo land saying that the Forum decides to stem the tide before it gets out of control.
