–Ministry, Development Agencies Tasked To Sit Up

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State and Vice Chairman of the Ethiope Federal Constituency Forum, EFCF, Engr. Roland Emudianughe has hailed the Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori for the timely intervention on the failed Oghara-Mosogar section of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Expressway.
Engr. Emudianughe described the governor as someone who has the interest of the people at heart and a good listener to the peoples yearnings.
The Vice Chairman stated this while addressing journalists in his office in Asaba, he took time to chronicle the achievements of the Oborevwori led administration since it assumed office three years ago.
He noted that the Oborevwori administration has impacted positively on the lives of Deltans, particularly in the area of road construction across the state.
He cited the Asaba-Ughelli dualization project, as well as bridge and road projects in Effurun, Osubi, Agbor, and Issele-Uku/Azagba as clear testaments to the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development.
The Renewed Hope Ambassador also used the opportunity to berate and task all appointees and elected representatives with various mandates to “sit up and be up and doing.”
While charging the Ethiope West Local Government Authority to maintain infrastructure within its domain, he specifically tasked interventionist agencies including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Direct Labour Agency(DLA) and Federal Ministry of Works to up their game in service delivery to the people.
He lamented that it is gross anomaly for elected representatives to sit idly while infrastructure in their domains decays, adding that the people are ready to hold their leaders accountable at all times.
Engr. Emudianughe added, “the word ‘palliative’ has not disappeared from the dictionary. Agencies can carry out palliative works instead of waiting until a road deteriorates to the point where it requires a turnkey project worth millions to fix. Unfortunately, they usually wait for the infrastructure to collapse before stepping in. This is not right.”
He called on all relevant authorities to move beyond temporary fixes and deliver a permanent reconstruction of the Oghara-Mosogar section of the Benin-Sapele Expressway without further delay to avert the inconveniences on the people who should enjoy dividends of democracy.
