Osubi Airport near Warri and it’s Manager, Mr. Winston Egwuatu smiled home with the Best Airport Safety Management System and Nigeria Airport Manager of The Year awards at the 15th edition of the Nigeria Aviation Award.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Festus Keyamo, SAN , Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development said that the purpose for wish the Nigerian Aviation Award and Ministerial Dinner was put in place is to encourage excellence in operations and reward hard work in the Aviation industry in Nigeria.
Chief Keyamo who was represented by Mahmud Adam Kambari, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development enjoined workers in the industry to always work towards achieving excellence at all times to attain optimum safety standards which is the Hallmark of Aviation operations.
The Minister enjoined those that bagged awards to continue with good works that made them to be selected for the enviable award and for those who were not so lucky to put in extra hard work so that they can pick up the much prized award in the Aviation industry in the next edition.
Chief Keyamo said that Nigeria Aviation Award (NiGAV Award) and Ministerial Dinner is a prestigious annual event in Nigeria that recognizes outstanding achievements, best practices, and contributions to the Nigerian aviation industry.
Osubi Airport bagged the Best Airport Safety Management System and it’s Manager, Mr. Winston Egwuatu bagged the Nigeria Airport Manager of The Year.
Speaking on the awards, Mr. Egwuatu, Manager, Osubi Airport who was visibly elated thanked God for the opportunity and workers for their collaboration and support to make it possible.
According to Mr. Egwuatu, “we, at Osubi Airport are grateful to God for helping us to be on our toes to ensure top notch maintenance schedule, excellent grass management, and effective safety protocol. Recall that Osubi airport just recently celebrated 18 months of Goal-Zero bird strike incident at the Airport.”
In his comment, Mr. Ofulue Kasiemobi, Image Maker, Osubi Airport and Head, Human Resources Department disclosed that Osubi Airport has dominated the award for 5 years running, he commended Mr. Egwuatu for his pragmatic leadership style as the major reason for the successes of the Osubi Project.
According to Mr. Ofulue, “Osubi Airport recently celebrated 18 months achievement of it’s goal-zero target of no bird strike. This is a record worth celebrating, considering the menace of birds strike recently plaguing the aviation industry.”
